title: hardware inventory, new year cleanup
type: hardware inventory
Doing an actual inventory this year instead of just vaguely knowing what's plugged into what. Partly organizational, partly because I keep forgetting what I actually have when I'm debugging something at 2am.
```
PRIMARY BOX
CPU: Intel i5-6600K
GPU 1: GTX 1080 Ti, 11GB (main)
GPU 2: GTX 1060, 6GB (secondary / overflow)
RAM: 16GB DDR4 (considering upgrade, prices still bad)
Storage: 1TB HDD (aging, replace this year), 250GB SSD (OS)
Cooling: stock + 2 desk fans, one pointed directly at GPU 1
PSU: replaced 2018, no issues since
MISC
UPS: none (should probably fix this, had two outages this year)
Network: home router, nothing special, occasionally the bottleneck
Backup: external 2TB drive, manual backups, not as often as I should
WISHLIST
- actual rack or shelf instead of milk crate
- UPS
- second monitor (still using textbook stack, mentioned this before, still true)
```
Nothing glamorous. Just wanted an honest record of what this whole thing has actually been running on, since it's easy to forget how modest the physical setup still is relative to how much time goes into it.
