title: a slow election week in a fast year
type: notebook entry
Took days to know the result this time, mail-in ballots and all, which somehow fit the general texture of 2020 — nothing this year has resolved quickly. Family mostly stayed quiet about opinions at dinner, which is its own kind of loud.
Been doing all my coursework remote all semester, still. Starting to lose track of which habits are "pandemic habits" and which are just "habits now," permanently, whether the pandemic ends soon or not.
Small technical note, tucked at the end here because it feels almost rude to mention alongside everything else going on this year: added a basic uncertainty score to the Loop's evaluation step, so it flags results it's less confident are meaningful versus noise, instead of treating every result the same. Early days, but it's already cut down on me chasing statistically-nothing "improvements" that were really just lucky seeds.
